Often in art, we have a reference, or perhaps many references! During this event, we will have a live model posing for an oil painting event with guest artist Sean P. Dwyer. He’ll guide you through how to set up your oil painting and how to put what you see in front of you into your art.

Create your own Watercolor Puzzle
Bringing you another experience painting on different surfaces with a unique puzzle waiting for your watercolor brush to change it forever. Whether you are an experienced artist or new to the world of watercolor, this is bound to be a fun and unique evening. We will have watercolor pencils to sketch a one of a kind puzzle and then brushes to bring out the magic of watercolors!

Building from Negative Space
We usually start from a perspective of building our art piece on top of the background. But what about bringing it out from the background? There are many reasons and ways to work the negative space in your artwork and we’ll talk about a number of them. However, for this workshop we will practice with white charcoal on a black paper.

Fuzzy Wire Floral Bouquet Workshop
Perhaps it’s a craft event, perhaps it’s an art. Either way, join us for a fun time creating flowers from fuzzy wires. We’ll make a bouquet with a variety of different flowers and wrap it up in tissue paper and ribbons.

Maybe you already enjoy oil painting, or have done a little exploration and wish to expand your knowledge. Perhaps, like a lot of us, you feel a little intimidated by the idea of painting with oil. But no need to worry!
Brendan Coudal is joining us from Sarasota to guide a class on oil paints. Learn how to approach a blank canvas with a layout of strong composition, better color harmony, and Old Master’s oil techniques made easy. Our theme and reference is flowers of the Keys! Take a picture or pick a flower to bring with as your inspiration, all other supplies will be provided.

Acrylic Painting on Unstretched Canvas
Welcome to another experience in painting. Most commonly, painting is done on a canvas, pre-stretched and ready on a frame. We can also paint on surfaces such as paper or canvas board or wood or metal. But on this day, you can experience painting on unstretched canvas fabric. Learn how to set it up properly and have fun with the acrylics.
