In this class we will be working on a hand tote bag that will be similar to what is pictured. This bag will have 3 different colors and an intro to some granny square work.

Please note that we will have 3 hours in this workshop for working on this pattern, but you may not finish the entire project in that time…if you are brand new to crochet, it can take a little practice to get comfortable with the stitches and tension. I will do my best to ensure you understand how to complete your project on your own if we do not finish it in the class.

YOU WILL NEED TO GET:

*5 skeins of 100% cotton yarn, 600 yards of yarn total. The yarn needs to be a Medium weight yarn (4).

I recommend getting a minimum of 4 skeins of Lily’s Sugar’n’Cream 100% Cotton Yarn. OR you can also get Caron All Day Cotton Yarn, which comes in a 3 pack on Amazon. You will need to get 3 different colors:

2 skeins of one color (that can make the white in the picture)

2 skeins of a second color (that can make the grey in the picture)

1 skein of a third color (that can make the red parts in the picture)

Make sure they compliment each other.

*Crochet hook US size 6 or 8 is suitable for this pattern.

*Yarn needles are needed for sewing pieces together.

*Scissors …embroidery scissors work great.

In this class we will be learning how to create a zig-zag stitch, eyelets in crochet as well as incorporating different colors in your pattern. Blankets can be made in many different sizes, please see chart below for reference. This workshop is beginner friendly.

Please note that we will have 3 hours in this workshop for working on this pattern, but you may not finish the entire project in that time…if you are brand new to crochet, it can take a little practice to get comfortable with the stitches and tension. And simply due to whatever size you are looking to make, a blanket can take longer than the allotted time. Paper Quilling is the art of rolling and folding colorful paper into unique and beautiful designs. Quilling can follow a pattern of be done as a unique piece. Some forms of quilling also utilize the height of the paper as well to give the final piece added dimention.

So what is a Triptych Painting? There are a few styles to this type of painting, but essentially it is a three panel piece of art. The design can continue across the panels in one big image known as a Polyptych. The design can also develop across the panels, each one being different but connected through progression and is called Thematic Composition. We’ll explore these styles in miniature format!

Brendan Coudal is joining us from Sarasota to guide a class on oil paints. Learn how to approach a blank canvas with a layout of strong composition, better color harmony, and Old Master’s oil techniques made easy. Our theme and reference is flowers of the Keys!
